The goal of the Abbotsford Building Connections Project is to build intercultural and interfaith connections through community-wide twinning activities and intercultural programming offered at neighbourhood hubs. Through social interaction, the Abbotsford Building Connections Project increases mutual respect and understanding and reduces racism.
- Students and their families will learn about the importance of differences and diversity in Abbotsford
- Business Associations will engage in joint intercultural events that promote working together and address the cultural divide in Abbotsford
- Leaders from Faith Communities will come together and engage in joint interfaith events to promote diversity
- Business and Faith leaders will develop an increased awareness of diversity, the intercultural/interfaith challenges in our community and the importance of embracing diversity
- Business and Faith leaders in Abbotsford will be able to find their role in promoting and responding to diversity, where strategies are developed and aimed at bridging and connecting the cultural and faith communities in Abbotsford
- Abbotsford residents from a variety of ethnic and cultural groups will participate together in intercultural recreation, literacy and arts programming at intercultural hubs located in the Townline/Clearbrook neighbourhood
- Abbotsford residents will developed the knowledge and capacity to access existing municipal services and programming offered at each of the intercultural hubs
